IN 1666, JOHN MILTON WROTE AN EPIC POEM
The book tells of struggles between good and evil and our temptation in the Garden of Eden. It tells of original sin, the fall of man, the banishment of Satan, his transformation into a serpent & our lust for the fruits of the tree of knowledge.
Ibiza has many myths and legends, some say it was the Garden of Eden itself and also the legendary Atlantis… what is certain is the Phoenicians created a port here around 650 BC named “Iboshim” after the Egyptian God Bes. Bes was the God of good things - music, dance and sexual pleasure! He was also the enemy of evil – fighting bad spirits & banishing snakes
To get Lost than Ibiza - with its wild pine forests, secret coves, idyllic beaches, ancient city walls, golden sunsets, beautiful tolerant people and rich cultural history.
Paradise Lost is a rum and cocktail bar that celebrates the good and the bad in us all - we offer a refuge from the world and a utopia of perfectly mixed drinks, relaxed friendly people, true eclectic Balearic playlist, eccentric overgrown interior that’s part curio shop part gentlemen’s club part opium den plus a comfy relaxed cobbled terrace right in the heart of it all. Oh, plus a Library Of Stolen Truths.
The Phoenicians Believed
BES HAD BLESSED THE ISLAND
...because they found no trace of snakes or poisonous creatures. With the snake Satan banished from Eden it’s easy to see how comparisons with the Garden of Eden grew.
The Greeks called the Islands of Ibiza and Formentera the Pine Islands or “Pityuses” and the name has stayed - unlike the original Greek name for the Balearic Islands which was the ‘Gymnesian Islands’ after its nude inhabitants – perhaps another link to the Garden of Eden! These fun loving inhabitants were said to forbid the import of precious metals taking payment in wine and pleasure instead!
Music & Studio
Music & Label
We've started a wee record label that puts out tunes from new and established acts. The broad playlists we play at Paradise Lost is reflected in the eclectic body of work released so far - just like food, we don't enjoy eating the same thing all the time. instead we prefer a dreamy mix of tracks often bathed in sunset hues and sometimes soaked in dancefloor sweat. Balearic at heart and of mind and body.
This year we're excited to be collaborating with more Island-based producers and aside from individual artist releases will be compiling a compilation of fresh new music from local producers and music makers. Released on vinyl naturally.
Please enjoy responsibly.
Paradise Heights Studio
We've set up a little recording studio above the bar. It's in the early stages of being established but its available for friends and family and folks keen to visit the Island for creative purposes.
Ibiza is infinitely inspiring and we want to share our love of the real Ibiza with people keen to channel their passions while they're here.
The studio currently has a basic set up but everything you need to plug in your laptop and any effects, pads or synths.
Accommodation is provided for 1 to 4 people plus access to many of the Island's local producers and musicians if you're keen to collaborate while here.
